Brief

The Client had created a concept for a training aid for footballers. Their initial working prototype was a simple metal frame with two large nylon blocks on the front and back.

The client engaged us to design, develop and source the product for them. They wanted it to have a sleek modern look which, demonstrated a high quality product with modern look and feel. The performance of the product was critical.

Technical Challenges

Given the size of the product the tooling would be expensive, and the design needed to minimise the number of tools required.

The initial prototype, was far too heavy and the Nylon blocks on the front and rear were over 50mm thick. We needed to core out these parts, without losing the performance they required for stability. Overall we needed to greatly reduce the weight of the part.

The final version would include circuit boards and LED’s and we needed to accommodate these within the design and also protect them from the elements.

The project is about to move forward to hard tooling, check back soon for more updates on this exciting project.
